This is an 11% increase, compared to September 2014.

Cargo has increased a whopping 308 (!) percent to about 500.000 kg.

Nice job :)

Hereby I present you an analysis of weekly available seats from Sarajevo Airport, firstly sorted by airline, and secondly sorted by destination. The data has been taken from seatguru and the respective airlines' websites for travel in the week of October 18 to October 24.

Sorted by airline
Turkish Airlines 2693
Austrian 1944
Pegasus Airlines 1323
Lufthansa 1024
Croatia Airlines 988
Germanwings 552
Air Serbia 462
Swiss Airlines 388
Flydubai 378
Norwegian 372
Adria Airways 252

Some things instantly become clear: Turkish airlines is by far the biggest airline, followed by Austrian, Pegasus and Lufthansa with more than 1000 weekly seats available. Not only does Turkish Airlines have the most seats available, it also has the highest frequency; mostly 2-3x daily. Austrian serves Sarajevo twice daily (once daily on Saturdays), while Lufthansa and Pegasus Airlines both pay one daily visit.

Hanging at the bottom of the list is Adria Airways, with only three weekly visits and 252 seats available. Norwegian, with two weekly flights and 372 available seats is doing a bit better, closely follows by flydubai (2 weekly) and Swiss Airlines (4 weekly).

Remarkably, there is one dominant alliance here, which is Star Alliance. Star Alliance airlines perform about 85% of all the flights from Sarajevo Airport, a huge number. Apart from Star Alliance, there isn't any alliance that has airlines serving Sarajevo. Note: one could regard Air Serbia, as a part of the Etihad group, an alliance member.

Sorted by destination
Istanbul (IST) 2693
Istanbul (SAW) 1323
Vienna 1944
Munich 1024
Zagreb 988
Belgrade 462
Cologne 414
Dubai 378
Zürich 291
Ljubljana 252
Stockholm 186
Oslo 186
Stuttgart 138
Geneva 97

Unsurprisingly, Istanbul is the biggest destination from Sarajevo, with more than 4.000 weekly seats to either IST or SAW airport. This means these two airports cater for almost 40% of all of Sarajevo airport's growth.
Belgrade has made a noticeable drop in available seats, due to the fact that B&H Airlines isn't around anymore. Because of this, Copenhagen has disappeared completely (although is will be served in the summer season by Norwegian). Furthermore, they used to serve Zürich via Banja Luka.

It seems like Sarajevo is lacking a true national carrier, or at least one that serves some more destinations in Europe from Sarajevo, be it a low cost airline, since most of the flights go to big global hubs.

This analysis has been sent to the Ex-Yu Aviation Forum. We have thoroughly checked all the information provided. However, it is still possible that there are minor mistakes. Please notify us if this is the case.

Nice man!
Must say that I'm not too surprised that Turkish is the biggest one.. I don't think there would even have been a lot of difference when B&H still was around.
It's sad... :(
